Donna Scott retired as All Kids Alliance’s Associate Executive Director on February 1, 2015. Her broad legacy of community contributions culminated in her service, first as administrative lead for the Greater Houston P-16+ Council, and then as second officer for All Kids Alliance.
Donna had been a “P-16 Field Specialist” for the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board before joining the P-16+ Council. But her work in community development started long before all of this. She worked in child and family welfare in Louisville, Kentucky, Dallas, Austin, and Houston in the 1970’s and early 1980’s.
For the next 20 years, Donna specialized in fund raising. She began at the University of Houston and eventually went on to serve ESCAPE Family Resource Center, the Holocaust Museum Houston, and the UT School of Nursing. Amplifying this part of her career, she became a Certified Financial Planner and Fund Raising Consultant. In 1990, she helped found the Planned Giving Council of Houston, serving as its secretary for seven years.
Donna holds a BA degree in History from University of Louisville and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
While she gets to do more traveling and gardening these days, she continues to serve on the Dean’s Advisory Board for the UH College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Board of Directors for the Institute for Evidence-Based Change headquartered north of San Diego, California. |
